On abandoned sports grounds in the center of Thorum, a new urban forest with 7000 trees has been planted. At the driveway to the village, another seven oaks have been planted each, accompanied by a meter high basalt stone, which connects the work 7007 Ege with a worldwide art project. In 1982 The German artist Joseph Beuys together with the citizens planted 7000 oak trees and placed 7,000 basalt stones in the German town of Kassel. The work has since spread to other places in the world e.g. Chelsea in New York and now Thorum.
