In Aasted, Irish artist Deidre O'Mahony initiated the project Groundworks, which involved the citizens in the proces of collecting a local archive about the history and the town’s present situation. Citizen Simone Bech proposed that selected archive photos where transformed into murals painted by the citizens themselves.
Along the way in the process of collecting scrapbooks, newspaper articles, private photos etc. citizen, Simone Bech, proposed to transform selected archive photos into gable paintings.
The idea immediately gained broad support and the citizens took part in drawing workshops to be able to pcarry out the gable paintings themselves under the supervision of Costa Rican artist Leonardo Sagastuy.
